Yes, many are very complacent with bills, and direct debit would be easier for many with monthly billing.Cashflow advantages would also be great for a retailer getting payments so much more frequently too, but you can't blame a business for wanting that benefit.Will keep paying mine on receiving my bill each quarter, until perhaps one day monthly billing is just required.Not sure how prevalent it is, but I saw a lot of retailers on the energy made easy site that only had monthly options, and low ...

..I think you know that you can opt out of monthly billing, via your account setting in the app or the AGL website.Yes, one shouldn't have to opt out, but be invited to opt in. Meant to also add @barjacko42 . . .Have spoken to a lot of solar and battery people in the past 6 months, and all have mentioned that digital meters will pretty much be mandated in the next year or three.Makes sense, no more guessing as to readings, always up to date for previous day by later afternoons, not more labour reading meters manually.So probably best to go to one on your terms, picking the best plan you can, and using power to best suit your needs / cost reduction.

Re: Quite a shock to see electricity prices in the Aussie states

Seems very wrong @Caban and just curious at to how network authorities can come up with such a massive difference.My initial thought is network costs, but it places such a strain on SA residents and businesses, my workshop tariffs and supply charge are higher than home too.
