Im writing on behalf of my elderly mother who lives in Melbourne. A few months ago she noticed a terrible gas smell in her front yard. It turned out that the NBN broke the gas pipe when they were installing - unfortunately a not too rare occurrence, I hear.
She has now received a gas bill for thousands of dollars, which has upset her greatly and is patently ridiculous and unfair. I live in Sydney and am trying to calm the situation but have no idea who to call. We would like AGL to bill NBN for any outstanding and to leave our elderly mother in peace and out of this.
Can anyone suggest who we should call to have this mess sorted out?
I'm sorry to hear that your Mother has found herself in this difficult position.
Can I ask you to clarify precisely where the leak occurred in the gas line in reference to the meter? E.g. was it in the gas line between the meter and your Mother's house, or was it in the gas line between the meter and the street?
