It seems direct debit by paypal option doesn't work?

 I setup direct debit by paypal from my AGL online account.

However, no transaction has been posted to my paypal account after due date and I received a letter from AGL told me that the Direct Debit Agreement has been cancelled due to invalid BSB.

Is that a error of AGL's system as using paypal you never need to provide BSB & acc no to pay?

And I also had not been asked for a BSB when I setup direct debit using paypal from AGL online.

I am sure my paypal account is working as I can using the same paypal account to send one-off payment from AGL online.

Only direct debit doesn't work.

Has anyone encounter the same problem or just me?

Hi @xyzhunter

 

Direct debit can only be set up to automatically debit your bank account or credit card - not a Paypal account. 

 

You may be able to set up a reoccurring payment from your Paypal account to your account with AGL - but this will need to be done through Paypal.

Can you try login your AGL online account and go to Direct Debit section?

 

Paypal is now one of three direct debit options you can select.

 

I actually setup Direct Debit within my AGL online account not paypal.

Sorry! You're right - we've given you the incorrect info above. 

 

You can definitely set up Direct Debit with Paypal through AGL Energy Online. We've popped some info here if you'd like to take a look. 

 

In regards to your issue - we're going to have to take a look into your account to see what the problem might be. It could be that there has been a BSB dishonour because the Direct Debit hasn't been set up correctly, but we'll need to check your account to know for sure. Leave your details with us via our support form
